Welcome to the Southern Methodist College Newsletter. This newsletter will be sent out periodically to keep you informed as to the college life and activities. The 2018-2019 school year is in process, and tomorrow, March 12th, we will begin the spring semester, second term.
Registration is open for second term of the spring semester; classes will begin officially on March 12th and end on May 6th. If you have questions about which courses you should take, please contact me at email@example.com. For a scholarship application or information, please e-mail Dr. Hucks. We remind you of the option of on-lineregistration and on-line payments available at our general web-site: www.smcollege.edu.
Financial assistance is available to our students. There are a number of scholarships presently available to students who apply. The Scholarship Committee will be meeting in the near future, so please submit your application as soon as possible..
At the request of our students, we are now offering “flex-scheduling” to allow students to have additional start dates to take a course and to have more than eight weeks to complete a course. If you request flex-scheduling, you will enroll on one class at a time with the following schedule:
Flex term – Begin anytime; May 6 finish (one course at a time)
First term – January 8 begin; March 4 finish (1-3 courses)
Second term – March 12 begin; May 6 finish (1-3 courses)
Flex term – Begin anytime; August 19 finish (one course at a time)
Summer term – May 21 begin; July 15 finish (1-3 courses)

News around campus . . . Dr. Vic Reasoner has announced his retirement, effective May 31st. He would like to continue teaching at the discretion of the new administration. Dr. George Green will chair a five person search committee seeking a new president … We welcome Mrs. Ramona White to the adjunct faculty. She will be provide curriculum and instruction for the English department. … We mourn the loss of Bud Gleaton, one of our students, after a brief and valiant battle with cancer. We know he is with the Savior whom he loved and served.
We are thankful for each member of our college family. It is a blessing working with each of you as you pursue your calling of Christian life and service. May the Lord continue to bless you in all of your labors for Him!
